The Vatican featuring Chris Finnen & Charmaine Jones (Gospo Collective)
The Wheatsheaf Hotel (Thebarton, SA)
Sunday, 27 July 2025 4:00 pm
The third in a series of concerts comprising exceptional musicians performing stylistically diverse compositions featuring unique artists and their heartfelt narratives.
The Vatican comprises four of Adelaide’s most culturally diverse, experienced, and respected musicians.
Headed by former London-based musicians, the effusive Enrico Morena, probably the most skilled drummer in nuanced and soundscape drumming in Australia, and the virtuosic and melodically charged Julian Ferraretto, arguably one of the most in-demand improvisational violinists in the country…both being PhD graduates of the Elder Conservatorium.
On guitar, the consummate Alain Valodze, an expressive Composer and Producer drawing influences from Flamenco, Folk, Brazilian, and Classical as well as Latin music, which come together to create Alain’s melodic and contemporary new age sound. Lastly, the understated Jamie Harrison on electric and double Bass, quiet by nature, though not in his artistry, commitment, passion and intensity of musicianship and heartbeat. A proud Kokatha man and a Graduate Of the Elder Conservatorium of Jazz.
English-born guitarist and troubadour, Chris Finnen, is renowned as being a master of Blues and World music, not to mention his razor sharp wit. Chris's narrative of life is highlighted in his recently released book, 'Finnenisms', which will form part of the evening's format. Chris was inducted into the New York Blues Hall of Fame in 2013 and the S.A. Music Hall of Fame in 2014.
Vocalist, educator and producer, Charmaine Jones, is the founder and powerhouse of the highly acclaimed 'Gospo Collective', one of Australia's premier choral ensembles. Sri Lankan-born, Australian-bred, Charmaine's stage presence and charisma is second only to her renowned performances and improvisational techniques with the evening being a platform for her original compositions and vocal wizardry.
